8th grade

BY ALEXANDREA IVANOFF & TURI BUSK

On Thursday, May 14th, the class of 2030 was promoted to high school. This class includes Kaci Ivanoff, Lester Bahr, Florence Ivanoff, Paul Johnson, McKoi Javier, Rylan Kniseley, Franklyn Johnson, and Keith Andrews.

The promotion ceremony was held in Sir Aldin's middle school classroom at 1:30 P.M. Family and friends joined them on seats and listened as they shared their speeches. The eighth graders also put together a slideshow for everyone to see.

In their speeches, they talked about their favorite memories of their years in middle school. They also recognized our Filipino teachers that are sadly moving back to their homes in the Philippines. Each of our upcoming freshmen shared that they are excited to experience their first year in high school with the new sport and educational opportunities.

The ceremony was MC’D by middle school English teacher Brianna Wheeler. She also handed out science awards that were based on the students’ work ethic and personality traits. The awards were made by science teacher Sir. Apollo.

The tradition of the eighth grade promotion restarted five years ago after a 15-year break, when this year's senior class asked for and organized a promotion when Timm Nelson was their advisor. Since then, the middle school teachers have continued the tradition.

Congratulations to this year's eighth graders for promoting to high school. As Mr. Busk said, “You have reached one milestone and now you will be starting the next.”
