ALAXSXA | ALASKA PosterALAXSXA | ALASKA Six cast and crew members from Ping Chong & Company out of NYC traveled to Unalakleet, St. Michael, and Stebbins to perform their piece, ALAXSXA | ALASKA, which weaves together puppetry, video installations, recorded interviews, storytelling, and yuraq (Yup’ik dance) to tell stories of cross-cultural encounters in Alaska. Performances took place October 19th in Unalakleet, October 23rd in St. Michael, and October 25th in Stebbins, and have opened powerful and meaningful dialogue and reflection amongst audience members in post-show community conversations led by Lisa Ellana and Colleen Reynolds from Kawerak. In each community, performers and teaching artists Ryan Conarro, Gary Upay'aq Beaver, and Justin Perkins led student workshops in puppetry, yuraq, and theatre arts.
