Recommended sites to buy skis and gear

REI - They have a wide variety of sizes for skis, poles, and boots. They also have a good return policy and often offer free or reduced shipping. Also, be on the look out for sales.

Akers Ski: Cross Country Specialist - A company from Maine with lots of knowledge and are very helpful with any questions. Shipping comes quickly with either 2nd Day Air or Priority. They have sales and older closeouts for reasonable prices.  

L.L. Bean - They have packages (Skis, Poles, Boots) at a good price. They often have waxless touring skis for beginners and adults. Also, be on the look out for sales. 

Alaska Mountaineering & Hiking - Out of Anchorage, they offer top end ski gear with lots of knowledge. Also, offer coaches and team discounts. 

Ski education sites

Skiku - This site basically has all the info needed to run a program. Take advantage of their efforts to help rural skiing in BSSD! They send out experienced skiers with gear to help teach lessons.
